2024 Marshall University Marathon

November 3rd 2024! Huntington, WV 25703 US Directions

Policies

Virtual Policy:
I agree that if the event is forced to go virtual (due to COVID, a State Lockdown, Weather, or ANY other reason) that I will participate virtually and will not receive any refund (nor will I be able to defer my entry to a future year). If this happens all those that registered for the live races will receive their swag in the mail or have an option for pickup. There is NO Virtual Option if the Live Race takes place.

Course Policy:
I agree and acknowledge that the course is not completely closed to traffic. In addition, I agree not to wear headphones on the course. I hereby agree that I am releasing the service providers (Appalachian Timing Group, APTiming.com, Marshall  University Marathon, Marshall University, MUM Association, Inc., Appalachian Event Management, Inc.) and all others involved with the race from liability for injuries resulting from any negligence of the provider.

No Cheating Allowed Policy:
I agree I will not cheat and/or give away/sell my bib number illegally. If caught cheating (in any form), I agree to be disqualified and banned from all future events.

Unclaimed Swag/Award Policy:
All jackets, shirts, swag, etc.. that go unclaimed (once packet pickup ends) will revert to the ownership of the MUM and will be available for sale on race day. This includes items that were purchased as add-ons.

Please note - that if you know you are going to be unable to attend Packet Pickup (Friday/Saturday) we do offer a Race Morning Packet Pickup Service ($30). NOTE:  If you do not register for this specific service, you will NOT be able to pick up your swag on race morning (only your bib number).

Any awards that go unclaimed will revert to the ownership of the MUM. If you do not grab your medal on race day, you will not get one later in the mail.

There will be no shipping of items. There will be no meeting up for items after the race. There will be no refunds.

Time Limit Policy:
Time Limit - 6 hours for all events. For safety and insurance reasons there are no early starts.  Registered marathon participants who are slower than 3 hours and 15 minutes at the 12 mile marker will be directed to the finish line for the half marathon. This is a safety issue.  Those participants who feel they will take longer than 6 hours should be prepared that police support and aid stations will not be available past this pace (approximately 13:45 min/mile).  You will proceed at your own risk. You hereby agree that you are releasing the service provider and all others involved with the race from liability for injuries resulting from any negligence of the provider/from any thing that happens once the time limit has passed.

The Respectfulness Policy:
By participating I agree to The Respectfulness Policy:
"If you aren't nice, you aren't allowed. Race organizers, at their sole discretion, have the right to remove your registration without a refund, and even permanently ban you from all future races, if you act, speak or behave disrespectfully toward any of our race staff, race volunteers, or toward your fellow participants. This includes all digital/online communications as well as in-person interactions."

The Inclement Weather/Severe Weather Policy:
INCLEMENT WEATHER
Race officials may cancel, delay, or change the event in case of extreme weather or other conditions that may affect the safety and health of the participants.

SEVERE WEATHER POLICY:  In the event of severe weather, the race director may decide to shut down the course.  Should that occur, volunteer course marshals will be released from their positions; runners will be notified and asked to take shelter at the next aid station and wait for a shuttle bus to take them to the finish line.  If you refuse to take shelter and continue on the course, you do so at your own risk.

All entry fees are non-refundable and non-transferable to future years for ANY reason.

Refund Policy
This event follows the standard running industry policy: All entry fees are non-refundable and non-transferable to future years for ANY reason. The no-refund policy includes requests made due to injury, surgery, pregnancy, personal circumstances, date conflicts and professional commitments. This is an industry standard policy and not unique to our event. We reserve the right to postpone or cancel the event due to circumstances beyond our control such as a natural disaster or emergency or as required to protect the safety of participants and staff. No refunds will be issued under these circumstances. We reserve the right to change the details of the event without prior notice. I understand that my entry fee is nonrefundable and bib numbers are non transferable. In addition, this includes circumstances such as Force Majeure and an Act of God which causes the event to be cancelled or your registration to be transferred to a Virtual entrant with no refund.

Deferral Policy
No deferrals (“carry-overs” or “transfers”) of entry to future years are permitted.  Your entry fees from a previous year cannot be deferred or applied to the 2024 event, nor can your entry fees from this year be deferred or applied to a future event.  This includes requests made due to injury, surgery, pregnancy, personal circumstances, date conflicts and professional commitments.  We do offer the ability to transfer your bib to another runner.
